Who We Are

Real people, real passion, real buildings that actually matter

How We Got Here

Look, we didn't start out trying to revolutionize anything. Back in 2011, a couple of us were sitting in a cramped office downtown, frustrated with how urban projects kept ignoring the environmental angle. It felt like everyone was just checking boxes instead of actually caring.

So we started Nebrythal Quinthor with a pretty simple idea - what if we built spaces that people actually wanted to live in AND didn't wreck the planet? Turns out, that's harder than it sounds. But also way more rewarding.

These days we're a team of 23, scattered between Toronto and a small satellite office in Vancouver. We've done everything from tiny residential retrofits to massive commercial developments. The thread that connects it all? We genuinely give a damn about the outcome.

Our Journey

2011 - The Beginning

Started with three architects and one shared belief - cities can be better. Our first project was a residential renovation in Parkdale that almost bankrupted us, but taught us everything about sustainable retrofitting.

2014 - Commercial Breakthrough

Landed our first major commercial gig - a mixed-use development in Liberty Village. It was chaotic, stressful, and absolutely transformative for how we approached large-scale projects.

2017 - Sustainability Focus

We formalized our environmental commitment and brought on specialists in green building. This wasn't just adding a department - it became core to everything we design.

2020 - Heritage Revival

Started working on heritage building restoration. Turns out the most sustainable building is often the one that's already standing. Who knew?

2023 - Today

We're still here, still learning, still pushing for better urban spaces. The work never stops evolving, and honestly, that's exactly how we like it.

The Team

Marissa Nebrythal

Marissa Nebrythal

Co-Founder & Lead Architect

Marissa's the one who keeps us honest about sustainability. She spent five years working in Copenhagen before coming back to Toronto, and she won't let anyone forget what real green architecture looks like. Coffee addict, bike commuter, perpetually annoyed by greenwashing.

Dev Quinthor

Dev Quinthor

Co-Founder & Urban Planning Director

Dev handles the big-picture urban stuff. He's obsessed with how buildings interact with neighborhoods and won't approve anything that doesn't enhance the streetscape. Used to work in municipal planning, so he knows all the zoning tricks.

Sarah Chen
Sarah Chen

Senior Residential Designer

Sarah's designed over 40 custom homes and she's got this uncanny ability to figure out what clients actually want versus what they say they want. Started in commercial but found her calling in residential about six years ago.

James Kowalski
James Kowalski

Structural Engineering Lead

James makes sure our ambitious designs don't collapse. He's been with us since 2015 and has a talent for finding creative structural solutions that actually work in the real world. Former hockey player, still competitive about everything.

Amara Williams
Amara Williams

Heritage Restoration Specialist

Amara joined us in 2019 and basically created our heritage division from scratch. She's passionate about preserving Toronto's architectural history while making old buildings work for modern life. Total history nerd in the best way.

Miguel Santos

Environmental Impact Analyst

Rachel Dubois

Interior Space Planner

Thomas Andersson

Commercial Projects Manager

Priya Sharma

3D Visualization Specialist

Plus another 15 incredibly talented folks in design, admin, and project management who make everything actually happen.

Our Values (Not Just Wall Decoration)

Honesty Over Hype

We'll tell you when an idea won't work, even if it's your favorite one. Better to hear it from us than from a structural engineer during construction.

Sustainability That Actually Counts

Not just slapping solar panels on things and calling it green. We're talking lifecycle analysis, material sourcing, energy modeling - the real stuff.

Community First

Buildings don't exist in isolation. We think about neighbors, pedestrians, the street, the whole ecosystem. It's gotta fit.

Constant Learning

Technology changes, materials evolve, climate challenges shift. We stay curious and keep updating our approach. What worked five years ago might not cut it today.
